D is for Dharma
“It is better to live your own dharma imperfectly, than to live an imitation of somebody else’s life with perfection.”
– Bhagavad Gita–
Dharma is the destiny deep inside all of us; it is our reason for living. In Buddhism, it means ‘cosmic law and order.’
Simply put, it is the destination we are destined for. For context, Karma is the steps we take towards fulfilling our Dharma.
When we can get real quiet and shut out the distractions in the various forms that are flying at us, seemingly all day – every day, then we can start to discover our own core values and in doing so, we will find our life’s purpose, our Dharma.
The easiest way is to ask the universe a question, get quiet and look for the answer.
We all have our purpose buried inside us, and if we start asking the questions, like a flower, it will bloom and begin to open up, showing the most beautiful version of itself.
An example from my own life is shutting down the external noises from media, society, social media and even the people closest to me whom I love dearly.
In doing so, I was guided toward my dharma, and out of nowhere, the answer was now here. A clear sign of what the overall ‘big picture’ looks like.
Dharma is not about money or getting paid. In a roundabout way, it is about others. What kind of impact do we wish to have on others? What can I do that will allow me to serve others?
If you can answer those two questions, then it’s possible you have found your dharma and to reach its full potential you will need to focus your attention on that area.
Beautiful posts. 🖤🖤

I appreciate the explanation, like, Karma is the steps we take to fulfill our Dharma. I have many interests and wonder if a person can have more than one Dharma. Or maybe an overall big picture is expressed though various forms such as art, music, wiring love for animals, trees, etc. Interesting areas to explore. Thank you for following, Anything is Possible!

Thank you for taking the time. Thats a great question, can we have more than one dharma or can it change?
I believe Creative arts are a part of individual expression which every poses inside but unfortunately most allow it to lay dormant and never realize or actualize their potential

Thank you for an informative and enlightening post. I found it life-affirming. At age 71, it is good to be able to look back on your life and feel that you have, to some degree, found your purpose and accomplished something. All the best! 🙂
