Alphabet soup for the soul vol.2 -“H”

H is for Healing

“As soon as healing takes place, go out and heal somebody else” -Maya Angelou-

Is love the stepping stone to healing? Or is healing the stepping stone to love?

When we love, we begin to heal; when we heal, we can start loving ourselves and others more fully.

Imagine you were in despair and had a chance to speak with God. What would you say?

Despair and depression are the best friends of pain, and life can sometimes seem hopeless for those who suffer chronically.

Every day wake up knowing exactly how the day will unfold before it even starts.

Knowing that all day will be a struggle. A struggle that no one can understand, and because of that, the person in pain isolates themselves from the world. Not because they don’t want to be around others but because they can not concentrate on anything other than the pain.

Feeling as if you are just waiting around to die. This belief is reinforced by shoving handfuls of pills into your mouth like Halloween candy. Do this 3 or 4 times throughout the day to remind your brain of your status ( in case you forget).

That was the life I lived during a dark night of the soul that lasted for a decade until I did have a conversation with God. I pleaded with her, ‘If you heal me, I will spend the rest of my life helping to heal others. I can still feel the pain, but I am no longer suffering.

I stopped taking pills (33 a day) and started to love myself and others. When we choose to love and serve others, genuine healing takes place.

  2. Thank you for your article. You wrote about the pain of chronical illness, and that’s what I am surrounded every day. Both my parents are suffered from a few chronical illness and what you wrote is basically how they feel, and what I see them undergo every day. That’s true, no one can understand this kind of pain. The doctors are only humans, they are just like us who go to work trying to solve things at hand and leaving the office on time. After staying in their jobs for a long time, they are already immute to the patients’ pain in some way, or, they can’t deliver their jobs and live their lives. In recent years I start to realize that healing can only come from yourself, not from someone in the external world. Wish you well.
