Becoming Limitless

I’ve heard people say that limiting beliefs are invisible and that you can not see them.

What if the reason we can’t see them and thus what is holding us back is that we have never actually looked.

What if then, we do look for them?

It first starts by asking why we think the things we do. The simple question of why allows us to begin the process of exploring ourselves by taking a deep dive to find out the root cause.

When we ask the question why we do the things we do, then the answers will surely come. Our brain starts to uncover the reasons and the fabrications of the mind that were placed there by others in our past and they will start to dissolve.

If we look close than we will find out what our limiting beliefs are.

From this new vantage of knowing, we can begin to re-frame the story that we have made up in order to reshape our destiny. We replace it with a  more positive and predictable story that will serve us now and into the future.

By seeking out the limiting beliefs that we have been carrying inside us unknowingly for our entire lives, we can replace them with new beliefs. New beliefs that align with our highest purpose and our dreams.

The First step is to look at the areas of your life that are not where you would like them to be. for this, you must do an honest analysis.

The next step is to question your beliefs. Why do I believe this? How long have I believed this?

You may find out those are beliefs that you had 20 years ago and they no longer serve you.

We must ask ourselves where do these beliefs come from?

Limiting beliefs can numb our entire world and the saddest part is we don’t even realize it. We can get stuck in unconscious cycles for decades and not even be aware that we are running someone else’s programs.

Once we see that our limiting beliefs are just a made-up story that we have been playing on repeat then we can change them and make up new beliefs. A new story that’s more compelling towards our own happiness and self-worth.

The point I am trying to make is that if we are living a life based on a belief system that we made up based on what we learned from schools, parents, media, religious leaders and society at large then it is up to us to disrupt the pattern.

What better way to do so than to make up new beliefs where we are the hero of the story and we do what we want with the one life we have on this planet. Where we are choosing to do things consciously, instead of running that playback loop that we all do subconsciously.

So start right now. Ask Why and when making up new beliefs don’t just shoot for the moon, shoot beyond the moon.

      1. Dear Hdavey Thoreau,

Thank you for your excellent post about becoming limitless and looking at things differently to expand our mental horizons.

Please be informed that in education and the academic circle, neuro-linguistic programming (NLP) is regarded as a prime example of pseudoscience, which neither relates any phenomena to neural structures nor has anything in common with linguistics and programming, and which comprises anecdotes and personal testimony far removed from scientific understanding of neuroscience and linguistics. Inconsistent with current neurological theory and plaqued by numerous factual errors, NLP is based on outmoded metaphors and dubious assertions of how the brain works. Reviews and meta-analyses have revealed that all of the supportive research on NLP contain significant methodological flaws, and that there have been several times as many studies of a far superior quality that fail to reproduce and confirm the extraordinary claims made by Bandler, Grinder and other NLP practitioners.

In addition, academics such as sociologists, anthropologists and others have categorized NLP as a quasi-religion belonging to the New Age and Human Potential Movements, as well as a form of folk magic with symbolic efficacy as opposed to physical efficacy to effect change through nonspecific means such as placebo effects and group cohesiveness. Influenced by and appropriating ideas and techniques in shamanism, NLP manifests like a syncretic folk religion grafting the magic and charm of folk practice onto the science and status of professional medicine. The concern of some NLP proponents with lineage from an NLP guru also parallels the concern with guru lineage in some Eastern religions.

  1. For the last couple years I have been discovering some of my beliefs that are keeping me stuck in unconcious cycles. I am seeing the world differently now and not relating with society at large anymore. It can feel sort of lonely, but then sometimes I’ll find some writing or Youtube videos with other people going through the same thing so know that some people are going through the same thing. Awakening maybe? Not sure if it’s that or just learning life lessons but I’m sure at a much different perspective than I was a couple years ago. Love your post. 🙂

  2. Great post! And I so agree! You would be surprised at how our beliefs shape our circumstances and our lives! Reshaping our beliefs is one of the hardest things to do, but it’s so necessary if you want to change your life for the better! Thank you for posting!
